If there is one man in recent times, who has managed to spark various controversies with the power ‘granted to him’ and managed to win hearts and yet at the same time, come under fire numerous times (a day), it has to be Donald Trump. Just weeks into his presidency of the US, Trump has already managed to implement several controversial decisions, from banning Muslim citizens from several countries from entering USA to rolling back Obamacare; this man has become the media’s “favorite” person, creating headlines and illustrations revolving around him in several magazines.
And of course, we could not resist sharing some of magazine covers featuring the most brutal illustrations of Trump. So without further ado, let’s take a look at them below:
Cover illustration by Edel Rodriquez, the latest Der Spiegel cover illustrates “Mr. President” brutally beheading the Statue of Liberty.
Another cover designed for the Time magazine in October, which won him the ASME Best Cover Contest Cover of the year award, shows a melted face of Trump. The other Der Spiegel cover illustrates the publications concern for Trumps implications in Europe.
This illustration, showing the Lady Liberty’s extinguished flame, was created to comment on the executive immigration order by Trump. “It used to be that the Statue of Liberty, and her shining torch, was the vision that welcomed new immigrants. And, at the same time, it was the symbol of American values,” Tomac says in The New Yorker. “Now it seems that we are turning off the light.”
Miles Dononvan created a stencil based illustration for The Economist, which depicts an outraged Trump throwing a “Molotov cocktail of policies and executive orders against the capital’s brilliant-white porticos,” as The Economist describes.
An Irish publication published this chilling cover which depicts Trump in the firing line with the words “Why not”. This issue was power packed, not only for the cover but for the content in which they ripped Trump’s ideology to shreds. “So what is to be done?” it asks. “Trump once suggested that Hillary Clinton’s lack of enthusiasm for guns might attract the attentions of a gun-favoring assassin. Around the time of Trump’s inauguration as US president, there was a spike in searches for odds on his assassination. Some punters were even asking bookmakers on Twitter for odds on Trump to be killed before the end of his term. So perhaps the solution is Tyrannicide. As he might say himself – “take him out”.
